Back at Queen’s I did quite a few extra-curricular activities. One of the things I did do is produce some software for the AMS (student government). It makes it feasible to run elections using preferential balloting. I was happy to find out that it’s still being used.

Good times… I guess I get to keep my engineering degree.

Hey Hey Hey, it’s Riz in Elf form!

OfficeMax has this cool site where you can upload a picture of yourself and create a dancing elf. The really cool thing is that they’ve integrated an automated call in number that allows you to record a message which your elf will say while dancing!

Really? Seriously? I posted a chat transcript over on tumblr (just because it’s so much easier to post there than on wordpress). So I’m not a geek!  So I’m told. Too cool. Check it.

I’ve been up since 7am and was planning on doing work until I had to go to the gym/class. Class is at 2–it takes 10 min to walk to the gym, 1 hour to workout, 15 min to shower and change, and 30 min to get to school. I use this to calculate what time to leave home *everyday* and I’ve never miscalculated until now. For some reason, today I calculated I had to leave at 1:00. It didn’t dawn on me that this was a blatantly incorrect calculation until I was at the gym starting to change into my workout cloths. Arg!

At least I had enough time to catch the subway (where I am right now) to make it to school on time.

Giving Tumblr a chance. Going to see how things go. Tumble blog. Tumble Feed. This blog will still be used for bigger posts or posts that you probably want to comment on but aggregated into the tumble blog.

I was just watching a bit of TV as a break and caught some of I Robot on Space. I just started giggling because it reminding me of an old Joke in GW: I did not Capsize him! HA! PURE GOLD!

So this Facebook flyer caught my attention today. Can you guess why?

It’s funny because the girl has nothing to do with what they’re trying to push. For lack of a better picture they just figured showing some girls cleavage would help them make some cash. I guess this is inline with how MSN advertises. Sex still sells.

So I guess this is my first mo-blog restaurant review. I’m currently checking out a new Italian place that opened up in my neighbourhood called Piatti. A large and fancy looking place with prices to match. I’m pretty sure they are screwed. Why? Reasons:

• Awful service. When I walked in everyone kind of looked at me and went back to what they were doing. After the girl finally came over I asked for a spot on the patio and she just turned around and walked away to get a menu, no “follow me” or anything.
• They don’t seem to carry any of the wines on their list. My out of the 5 wines they sell by the glass they only had 2 of them. I didn’t really want either of my choices but I settled.
• They don’t know how wine should be served. Serving white whine in a red wine glass is fine if you’re east side mario’s but if you’re positioning your biz as a fancy place, serving me the incorrect glass tells me that I’m better off a micky-d’s. That and the wine drinking experience is ruined. Fancy place=high prices but also excellent experience… Maybe they didn’t get the memo.

We’ll see if they get their act in order. Otherwise it looks like there will be a nice new building to rent at 150 Eglinton east in a few months.

Update: It was even bad at the end. I waited 10 min after finishing my wine and the waitress never returned. I got up and went to the front to get my bill and then had to wait 5 min for them to come up with $5 worth of change.
