It’s funny that they still make Arnold jokes. For example, this article which talks about how Arnold’s law got “terminated” as unconstitutional:

Anyone else find it funny that he’s trying to ban the sale of violent video games to kids? He’s the Terminator gosh-darn-alrighty!

I bet that title got your attention… you sad, sad person.
I’ve come across two things:
Science confirms what every Scientist already knew:
Half Sigma also showed that the smartest men in the GSS (approx. IQ >120) were also more likely to visit a prostitute. (Hardly indicative of cautiousness). This may suggest intelligent men are less able to find willing sex partners. Are smart men less attractive to women? Perhaps in some ways. For instance HS found that smart men were less likely to be athletic, and this paper shows, unathletic men and women have fewer sex partners. Athletic men, with more willing sexual partners are also less likely to visit a prostitute. Athletic activity gives men more masculine bodies, which are more attractive to women. A more masculine physique correlates with (PDF) an increased number of sex partners.
And I’m a fan of this picture:

Just because I love pointing this type of stuff out. There’s a recent study released that’s touting the rise in piracy. From the Globe and Mail:
MR’s fourth annual Digital Music Survey, which polled 1,700 people in the U.K. last month, suggests that illegal music is more popular than ever before, with 43 per cent of respondents claiming that they are illegally downloading tracks, up from 36 per cent last year and from 40 per cent in 2005.
Using their own numbers and a small assumption (that the sample size in 2007 was the same as the sample size in the past), I calculate the standard error on between their 2005 and 2007 numbers to be 3.3% at the 95% confidence level. Given that 43%-40%=3% we now know that there is no statistically significant difference between the number of people claiming to illegaly download tracks between 2005 and 2007.
So the statement “illegal music is more popular than ever” has been debunked. Thank-you and have a good day.

I came across a cool Facebook App. It let’s you visualize your network and ranks the members of your network based on how many photos you have together. My entire network looks like a mess:

A subset of the 50 most connected (shared pictures) friends is more manageable:

The size of the dots indicates connectedness.
Try it out on your network (requires Java 5)

An article on the Globe & Mail claims that there are more women than men in Eastern Canada:
All of this is no news for twentysomething singleton Jennifer Winsor, who has watched more and more young men leave her hometown of St. John’s in search of Albertan cash and out-of-province adventure.
In fact, she’s reminded of the exodus every time she hits the town with her girlfriends.
βIt feels like if we go out, there’s girls everywhere, and there’s one guy for every four girls. They’re laughing. They get to pick and choose,β she says of the men in their midst.
βI would like to see more single men. If you can make that happen, that would be great,β she adds.
But the drought isn’t limited only to St. John’s. In Toronto, women outnumber men in every demographic over 20.
I think women in Toronto haven’t gotten the memo about this yet. Hey ladies…

Yesterday (July 2nd) was Lindsy Lohan’s birthday. She turned 21 and got the privilege of celebrating her ability to legally consume alcohol in Rehab where she is addressing her alcohol problem.

Today is Noodlefest. It’s unfortunate that I can’t attend. I still need to get a FSM t-shirt at some point.
p.s. ILTC (I love this commercial). TB I can’t text my bff since it’s not nbd with rogers.
p.p.s. This credit card is a great way to make sure that if you pay for a first date, you won’t get a second. (Cheers Simon)

Related to my previous post, here’s another example from Newsweek:

I’m starting to feel guilty about this because it’s been happening so often…
Unfortunately I didn’t post this one on my blog but I did talk to many friends about how I didn’t understand how changing daylight savings would save energy. The reason I didn’t understand how it would save energy is the exact reason why it DIDN’T SAVE ENERGY:
For example, households may draw less electricity for lights at night, but will use more power in the early in the day as they wake to darker and chillier mornings.
I’d like to see how much this actually costed the economy due to the confusion and tech changes that were needed.

It’s a sad day when the media self senors themselves to to this degree. Time magazine actually put out a separate cover in the United States:

The question is if this censorship is occurring because of fear of the government or the people?
