Tip 1

If you’re getting a new laptop for Rotman, you can get either a PC or Mac, even though Rotman only supports the PC. There are enough geeks floating around the school to help you get your Mac setup correctly for the Rotman network. The only stumbling block I’ve run into with the Mac is printing at Rotman, which I still have to rely on either parallels or boot camp.

Windows Vista is a big no-no right now at Rotman. The tech guys have sent many e-mails around about how a lot of Vista stuff doesn’t work on the network.

Integrative Thinking Practicum

We’ve handed in our ITP case. A 10 page biz plan and on Thursday we give a 45 minute presentation about what we want to do with Porter Airlines. This project has been the bain of Q4, eating up a lot of time. This quarter in general has had the highest workload and I think it’s just an oversight on the schools part due to this being the first time they’ve held all these courses at the same time (and ITP is a new course).

On Wednesday we had a 7-hour session for ITP which finally got to the meat of what “integrative thinking” is. I don’t think I can do a better job of explaining it than the Rotman site but a large part of our class on Wednesday was basically “first seek to understand, then be understood.” Go figure.
